Newlyn School

Friends of Newlyn School (FONs)

A Warm Welcome to Our Parent and Teacher Association

Why Does the School Have a PTA?

The main purpose of Friends of Newlyn School (FONS) is to support the school by raising funds to enhance, enrich and improve the learning experiences of our children. The money raised helps provide valuable extras that make school life even more memorable, including educational trips, special events, enrichment activities and Year 6 leavers' hoodies.

FONS also plays an important role in bringing our school and wider community together. We believe that when families are actively involved in school life, children benefit both academically and socially. As well as fundraising, FONS offers opportunities for parents, carers, grandparents and friends of the school to meet, make connections and enjoy being part of our school community.

Our PTA is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who work closely with school staff and pupils to understand how funds can best support the children. We welcome new ideas and are always looking for ways to involve families in shaping future events and activities.

Most importantly, we're parents, carers, family members and friends, just like you. Whether you're new to the school or have been part of the community for years, we'd love you to get involved.

Hi my name is Jess and have two children at newlyn school, across KS1 and KS2.

Having recently moved into the area, Newlyn stood out as a special school with strong community and opportunity. I feel like giving back to the school as they try so incredibly hard every day!

I look forward to being involved with FONs and creating core memories through our events for all the children.

Hi im Tamara, I’ve been a parent at Newlyn School starting my 2nd year now. It’s like a full circle moment for me as I started Newlyn school at the age of 2 in stepping stones and through out and now I’m back here with my own children.

Hi, my name is Vicky. I have been a parent at Newlyn School since 2019, with my youngest currently in year 5. I love to be involved with our school family, helping staff wherever I can with outings. I have been a part of FONS for many years in a few different capacities, but back into the role this year as Secretary. I am excited to see what we can achieve this year, bringing some fun to our wonderful children whilst raising much needed money for the school.
